Taxonomy
Anomites trigonalis was named by Martin (1809).

It was recombined as Spirifer trigonalis by Sowerby (1820), Moeller (1862), Mansuy (1913); it was recombined as Spirifera trigonalis by McCoy (1855), Walcott (1884); it was synonymized subjectively with Spirifer rectangulus by Tschernyschew (1902); it was synonymized subjectively with Brachythyrina rectangulus by Waterhouse (1981).
