Cypraea oryza was named by Lamarck (1810) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Recent; west Pacific.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Trivia oryza by Roberts (1885), Wilson (2002); it was recombined as Trivia (Trivirostra) oryza by Ladd (1977); it was recombined as Trivirostra oryza by Kira (1962), Jensen (1996), Bouchet and Gofas (2015).
