Lamelliphorus was named by Cossmann (1915) [Sepkoski's age data: J Aale K Nc Sepkoski's reference number: 1066].

It was assigned to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Lamelliphoridae by Conti and Szabó (1989), Schulbert and Nützel (2013).
