Sichuanosuchus was named by Peng (1995). It is not extant.
It was assigned to Protosuchia by Wu et al. (1997), Ortega et al. (2000); to Mesoeucrocodylia by Fiorelli and Calvo (2008); to Crocodyliformes by Nascimento and Zaher (2011), Bronzati et al. (2012); to Crocodyliformes by Pol and Norell (2004), Zaher et al. (2006), Gasparini et al. (2006), Clark (2011), Buscalioni (2017); and to Shartegosuchoidea by Dollman et al. (2018).
