Taxonomy
Jupiteria (Surojupiteria) dissensa was named by Stilwell and Zinsmeister (1992) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; Seymour Island, Antarctica.]. Its type specimen is USNM 441589, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is IPS 443, Seymour Island, which is in a Lutetian coastal sandstone in the La Meseta Formation of Antarctica. It is the type species of Jupiteria (Surojupiteria).
