Taxonomy
Botula pirriei was named by Stilwell and Zinsmeister (1992) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; Seymour Island, Antarctica.]. Its type specimen is USNM 441602, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is PU 1057, Seymour Island, which is in a Bartonian coastal sandstone in the La Meseta Formation of Antarctica.
