Taxonomy
Venus newtoni was named by Wilckens (1911) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; Seymour Island, Antarctica.]. It is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Venus (Ventricoloidea) newtoni by Pugaczewska (1983), Pugaczewska (1984), Gazdzicki and Pugaczewska (1984); it was recombined as Eurhomalea newtoni by Stilwell and Zinsmeister (1992).
