Proteoceras tyronensis

Taxonomy
Orthoceras tyronensis was named by Foerste (1912). Its type specimen is USNM 87109 and is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is High Bridge, Tyrone Fm., which is in a Rocklandian shallow subtidal limestone in the Tyrone Limestone Formation of Kentucky.

It was recombined as Sactoceras tyronensis by Foerste (1933); it was recombined as Proteoceras tyronensis by Frey (1995).
