Taxonomy
Sulcocypraea was named by Conrad (1865) [Sepkoski's age data: T Than-l T Ol-l Sepkoski's reference number: 121]. It is the type genus of Sulcocypraeinae, Sulcocypraeini.

It was assigned to Cypraeidae by Harris and Palmer (1947); to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); to Ovulidae by Dolin and Ledon (2002); and to Sulcocypraeini by Fehse (2013).
