Sulcogladius was named by Sacco (1893) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-u T Mi-m]. It is not extant.

It was reranked as Rostellaria (Sulcogladius) by Koperberg (1931); it was reranked as Tibia (Sulcogladius) by Wissema (1947), Robba et al. (1989).

It was assigned to Rostellaria by Koperberg (1931); to Tibia by Wissema (1947), Robba et al. (1989); to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Rostellariidae by Pacaud (2008).
