Taxonomy
Vanikoropsis was named by Meek (1876) [Sepkoski's age data: K Apti T Dani Sepkoski's reference number: 914,1066]. Its type is Natica toumeyana.

It was assigned to Neritopsidae by White (1889); to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Vanikoridae by Kase (1984), Stilwell et al. (2004), Cataldo (2017).
