Caecum properegulare was named by Mansfield (1925) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene; Trinidad and Tobago.]. Its type specimen is USNM 352675, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USGS 8302, which is in a Miocene marine siliciclastic in Trinidad and Tobago.
