Amauropsis trinitatensis was named by Mansfield (1925) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene; Caribbean.]. Its type specimen is USNM 352684, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USGS 8299, which is in a Miocene marine siliciclastic in Trinidad and Tobago.
