Mangilia elongata was named by Gabb (1873) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Pliocene; Caribbean.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Cythara elongata by Maury (1917); it was recombined as Ithycythara elongata by Woodring (1928), Woodring (1970).
