Cancellaria rowelli was named by Dall (1896) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Pliocene; Caribbean.]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Cancellaria (Cancellaria) rowelli by Woodring (1970), Jung and Petit (1990) and Landau et al. (2007).
