Taxonomy
Arca (Scapharca) lesueuri was named by Dall (1848) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Oligocene; Gulf Coastal Plain.]. Its type specimen is ANSP 30682, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Scapharca lesueuri by Cooke (1918); it was recombined as Anadara (Scapharca) lesueuri by Schenck and Reinhart (1938); it was recombined as Arca lesueuri by MacNeil (1944); it was synonymized subjectively with Anadara (Rasia) mississippiensis by Woodring (1973); it was recombined as Scapharca (Scapharca) lesueuri by Dockery (1982); it was recombined as Cunearca lesueuri by Ward (1992).
