Taxonomy
Murex turricula was named by Montagu (1803) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Western Atlantic.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Clavatula turricula by Wood (1848); it was recombined as Propebela turricula by Bogdanov (1990) and Hendy et al. (2008).
