Choffatella was named by Schlumberger (1905) [Sepkoski's age data: J Oxfo K Ceno]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Lituolinae by Cushman (1927); to Choffatellinae by Loeblich and Tappan (1984); and to Foraminiferida by Sepkoski (2002).
