Taxonomy
Daphnella was named by Hinds (1844) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-m-u R Sepkoski's reference number: 700]. It is extant. Its type is Pleurotoma lymneiformis.

It was assigned to Pleurotomidae by Vredenburg (1921); to Turridae by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); to Daphnellinae by Hinds (1844), MacNeil (1960), Woodring (1970), Wilson (1994); to Neogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Raphitomidae by Bouchet et al. (2011).
