Darbya was named by Bartsch (1934) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-l R Sepkoski's reference number: 549]. It is extant. Its type is Darbya lira.

It was assigned to Clavinae by Woodring (1970); to Neogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Borsoniidae by Bouchet et al. (2011).
