Deussenia was named by Stephenson (1941) [Sepkoski's age data: K Camp-u K Maes]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Melongenidae by Sohl (1964); to Melongeninae by Squires and Saul (2000); and to Neogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002).
