Taxonomy

Leda virgo was named by Martin (1879) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Miocene-Recent; Europe, India, Indonesia.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Nuculana virgo by Mukerjee (1939); it was recombined as Nuculana (Saccella) virgo by Skwarko (1994).
