Taxonomy
Cassidea acanthina was named by Dalton (1908) [DISTRIBUTION: Oligocene-Miocene; Myanmar, India.]. It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Yenangyrat (Sitsayan stage), which is in a Rupelian marine horizon in the Sitsayan Formation of Myanmar.
It was recombined as Melongena acanthina by Vredenburg (1921).
