Taxonomy

Ithycythara was named by Woodring (1928) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-l R Sepkoski's reference number: 549]. It is extant. Its type is Mangilia psila.

It was assigned to Mangeliinae by Woodring (1928), Woodring (1970); to Turridae by Gardner (1948), Ladd (1982), Todd (2001); to Neogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Mangeliidae by Bouchet et al. (2011).
