Melongena (Heligmotoma) nilotica libycum was named by Mayer-Eymar (1895) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Paleocene; Northern Africa.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Heligmotoma libycum by Oppenheim (1906), Abbass (1967).
