Rissoa whitleyi was named by Bell (1898) [DISTRIBUTION: Pliocene; Northern Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Alvania whitleyi by Harmer (1925); it was recombined as Alvania (Alvania) whitleyi by Marquet (1997).
