Nerita globosa was named by Philippi (1855) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Miocene-Recent; Indian Ocean. COMMENTS: Name proposed by Chemnitz, but formerly described by Philippi. Junior homonym of Natica globosa Grateloup, 1828]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Natica globosa by Martin (1905), Vredenburg (1928).
