Labiostrombus was named by Oostingh (1925) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-u R Sepkoski's reference number: 909,1074]. It is extant.

It was reranked as Canarium (Labiostrombus) by Hayasaka (1962); it was reranked as Strombus (Labiostrombus) by Oostingh (1935), Eames (1950), MacNeil (1960) and Hendy (2007).

It was assigned to Canarium by Hayasaka (1962); to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Strombus by Oostingh (1935), Eames (1950), MacNeil (1960) and Hendy (2007).
