Nerita helicina was named by Brocchi (1814) [DISTRIBUTION: Oligocene; Europe.]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Polinices (Euspira) helicinus by Janssen (1969); it was recombined as Euspira helicina by Harzhauser and Mandic (2001) and Pedriali and Robba (2009).
