Sphaerocypraea wegeneri was named by Schilder (1939) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene; circum-Caribbean.]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Marginocypraea wegeneri by Ingram (1947) and Jung (1965).
