Taxonomy
Fasciolaria burdigalensis was named by Defrance (1820) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Miocene; Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Euthriofusus, Euthriofusus (Euthriofusus).

It was recombined as Fusus burdigalensis by Hörnes (1856); it was recombined as Fasciolaria (Tudicla) burdigalensis by Hörnes and Auinger (1879); it was recombined as Fasciolaria (Euthriofusus) burdigalensis by Scahffer (1912); it was recombined as Euthriofusus (Euthriofusus) burdigalensis by Hözl (1965); it was recombined as Euthriofusus burdigalensis by Sacco (1904), Woodring (1964) and Harzhauser (2002).
