Rhombopsis was named by Gardner (1916) [Sepkoski's age data: K Coni-u K Maes Sepkoski's reference number: 157]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Melongenidae by Sohl (1964); to Neogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Fasciolariidae by Devries (2019).
