Cochlis migratoria was named by Powell (1927) [DISTRIBUTION: Recent; Australia, New Zealand.]. It is extant. It is the type species of Notocochlis.

It was recombined as Notocochlis migratoria by Majima (1989) and Pastorino (2005).
