Voluta ancilla was named by Lightfoot (1786) [DISTRIBUTION: Recent; Chile-Argentina.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Adelomelon ancilla by Dall (1906), Nielsen and Frassinetti (2007), Nielson and Valdovinos (2008).
