Teinostoma (Idioraphe) phacoton was named by Gardner (1947) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Miocene; Florida.]. Its type specimen is USNM 329124, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USGS Loc. 7183 - Alum Bluff, lower bed [Chipola Fm], which is in a Burdigalian marine marl/sandstone in the Chipola Formation of Florida.
