Taxonomy
Gastridium cepa was named by Sowerby (1846) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene; Chile.]. It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Testallium.

It was recombined as Testallium cepa by Frassinetti (2001), Nielsen and Frassinetti (2003).
