Taxonomy
Hermatostroma astrorhizoides was named by Bolshakova and Ulitina (1985). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Tsakhirin-Khuduk, Dzhinsetu Ula Mountains, Gobi Altai, which is in a Givetian perireef or subreef limestone in Mongolia.
