Taxonomy
Columbella pumilio was named by Reeve (1858) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; northern South America.]. It is extant. Its type specimen is BMNH 1967940/1, a shell.

It was recombined as Columbella (Strombina) pumilio by Tryon (1882); it was recombined as Strombina pumilio by Woodring (1964); it was recombined as Strombina (Strombina) pumilio by Jung (1989) and Landau and Marques da Silva (2010).
