Taxonomy
Columbella maculosa was named by Sowerby I (1832) [DISTRIBUTION: Recent; Baja California.]. It is extant. Its type specimen is BMNH 1982136, a shell.

It was recombined as Anachis (Strombina) maculosa by Carpenter (1855); it was recombined as Strombina maculosa by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Strombina (Spiralta) maculosa by Jung (1989).
