Taxonomy
Floyda concentrica was named by Webster (1905). It is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Floyda.

It was recombined as Floydia concentrica by Fenton and Fenton (1924); it was synonymized subjectively with Floyda gigantea by Day (1987).

J. Day 1987 (Floyda gigantea)Characteristically large, thick, holostomatous, anomphalous, and turbiniform; conspiral and dextrally coiled; sutures impressed. Whorl profile rounded on upper half and subangular at base of body whorl. Aperture subcircular and operculate (Figure 8.1, 8.2). Ornament of prosocyrt collabral growth and often well-developed disturbance lines, with or without strong opisthocline to orthocline collabral ridges on upper half of whorls of teleoconch.
