Tromina abyssorum was named by Lus (1993) [DISTRIBUTION: Recent; Southern Ocean.]. It is extant. Its type specimen is Unknown number (lost), a shell. It is the type species of Lusitromina.

It was recombined as Lusitromina abyssorum by Harasewych and Kantor (2004).
