It was assigned to Melanopsidae by White (1889), Woods (1922) and Nagao (1928); to Melaniidae by Nagao (1928); to Melanopsinae by Olsson (1931); to Thiaridae by Vaught et al. (1989); and to Pachychilidae by Pacaud and Le Renard (1995).
