Cassis (Phalium) guppyana was named by Maury (1912) [DISTRIBUTION: ?Paleocene or Eocene; Caribbean.]. Its type specimen is PRI (unknown number), a partial shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Phalium guppyana by Hendy et al. (2008).
