Taxonomy
Pecten patagonensis was named by d'Orbigny (1842) [DISTRIBUTION: Cenozoic; Argentina/]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Myochlamys patagonensis by Ihering (1907); it was recombined as Chlamys patagonensis by Camácho (1967); it was recombined as Chesapecten patagonensis by Griffin and Nielsen (2008).
