Cimomia vaughani
Taxonomy
Enclimatoceras vaughani was named by Gardner (1923) [DISTRIBUTION: Paleocene; Gulf Coastal Plain.]. Its type specimen is USNM 352261, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS 3178, Myrick's Apiary, Frio River, which is in a Danian shoreface sandstone in the Kincaid Formation of Texas.
It was recombined as Hercoglossa vaughani by Berry (1923), Gardner (1931), Gardner (1933); it was recombined as Eutrephoceras vaughani by Olsson (1928) and Maury (1930); it was recombined as Cimomia vaughani by Miller and Thompson (1933), Stenzel (1940), Stenzel (1942), Miller (1947), Donovan and Draper (2001).
