Taxonomy
Cimomia vestali was named by Miller and Thompson (1933) [DISTRIBUTION: Paleocene; Gulf Coastal Plain]. Its type specimen is SUI 616, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Trim Cane Creek, which is in a Danian marine horizon in the Clayton Formation of Mississippi.
