Littoraria was named by Griffith and Pigeon (1834) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi R Sepkoski's reference number: 909]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Littorininae by Wilson (1993); to Littorinidae by Todd (2001); and to Opisthobranchia by Sepkoski (2002).
