Rissoina fallax was named by Deshayes (1861) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; western Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Rissoina (Zebina) fallax by Cossmann and Pissarro (1910); it was recombined as Zebina (Zebina) fallax by Pacaud and Le Renard (1995).
