Taxonomy
Waagenites stani was named by Archbold (1988). Its type specimen is GSWA F11223, a valve (External mould, dorsal valve), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is GSWA69561, Millyit Range, which is in a Wuchiapingian marine sandstone in the Hardman Formation of Australia.
