Taxonomy
Ctenalosia transversa was named by Cooper and Grant (1975). Its type specimen is USNM 152644d, a shell (Articulated shell), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USNM762, Little Wind River, which is in a Wuchiapingian open shallow subtidal limestone in the Park City Formation of Wyoming.
